Gasohol Becomes Hot--China Imports Cassava Chips as Raw Materials of Gasohol From Africa
On the 28th July, five containers full with cassava chips from Nigeria smooth landed at Lianyungang container port, which was 125 tons weight and with the value of 18,750 U.S. dollars. This is the first cassava chips trade between Nigeria and China since the inspection and quarantine agreement of cassava chips signed.
Gasohol was required to utilize for automobiles at some areas in China, so that improved the alcohol consumption market and stimulated the investment of alcohol production industry. However, the yield of dried pachyrhizus—the traditional raw materials of alcohol, reduced year after year, it have not able to fulfil the requirement of current alcohol industry. Thereby it directly expedited the development of cassava chips import trade. Currently, in China, Lianyungang port is the second big port that imports cassava chips. In the first half of this year, Lianyungang port has imported cassava chips 70 batches, 560,000 tons, which has respectively increased 75% and 62%.
